Live aquaria Gig
I waited 3 months on the waiting list for this anemone. I was so excited to get the in stock notification. Now I am sad. Already sent the pics 5 minutes after it arrived. I do have the hospital tank set up with cipro. I have treated a few successfully but none that looked this bad right in the bag. 03304E17-C663-4A45-AB66-37A276E8D41D.jpg

I’ve had, over the years, maybe 2 out of 6 live aquaria Gigs survive treatment.

They did credit my account minus the $9.99 box fee. I had to call them and ask them to refund the credit card I used. They informed me all refunds are now credited to your live aquaria account for future purchases. I have not ordered from them in some time and I was not aware of that change. They DID go ahead and return it to my Credit Card as a 1 time courtesy. That's all I needed since I will not be ordering from them again. I do not like a company who holds money hostage so you HAVE to purchase there again in the future! It could be another 3 months before they get that anemone in again. I will order elsewhere. I have 2 local stores trying to get in a Gig for me...so hopefully they will come thru soon.

3 hours with cipto
3 hours in and it’s looking better. I treated with 500mg cipro instead of the 250 on day 1. I will continue with the recommended 250 daily starting tomorrow and with each water change until it’s either a goner or it’s recovered.

Another pic. I can’t believe the difference in less then 4 hours. I hope it continues to improve. Thank goodness I always have ciprofloxacin on hand and a hospital tank ready.

That looks more like a haddoni. Can you take photos of the underside so we can see if there are visible verrucae?

You are correct....it is a Haddoni. The is NO visible verrucae at all. Now I don’t feel bad at all that I asked for a refund!! Honestly, this is the 2nd time they have sent me the wrong anemone. I have a post about it here A few years ago. Ugh....never ordering from them again. Hopefully it recovers and I can trade to a local SW store for credit

I am sorry that they send you a Haddoni instead of a Gigantea. Good luck

What a difference 20 hrs in cipro makes!!
It's hard to believe this is the same anemone!! It isn't a Gigantea like I ordered, but it's not the pile of expelled insides it was in the shipping bag I'm not sure what I'm going to with a Hadonni anemone because I want a Gigantea or a Magnifica....I'm just happy it isn't dead.
I want to thank everyone for helping me years ago with the Cipro instructions for sick anemones. It works and it really is simple to do. |

Maybe it was a blessing in Disguise.....
I showed my boyfriend (who I am slowly dragging over to the "salty side") what a true Gigantea anemone looks like....He said he thinks they are ugly lol. He likes the longer tentacle anemones . So I ordered a H. Magnifica. QT tank #2 is ready. It will be here tomorrow . He loves my Seahorses and softie tank! Wait until he sees all of the amazing carals I can put in this tank that were not seahorse safe!! I Love love love LPS! |

That looks very much like my old gig before I tore the tank down to focus on seahorse breeding. It grew like a weed too. Was tan when I got it....turned into a very vibrant green.

Take it from me who have keep multiple anemones of each species for long term, Gigantea is just as aggressive at eating fish as Haddoni.
