Odd... those strips were already mounted on mine. The long one on the front and one each on the sides and then you just place it on top of the overflow. Mine was a snug fit when placed between the overflow and the glass bracing.

No mine had all the strips mounted to the larger piece. Just found it odd as it's just a piece of acrylic that sits ontop of the overflow. It can slide right off, nothing holding it on there. Figured it would have a groove or something to prevent it from sliding around.

You really dont want grooves and such or else it will have growth and as such get stuck on there. Mine is snug between overflow teeth and glass eurobrace. It does not shift at all unless I move it. I do have to flip it every 6 months or so to avoid a slight bend in the cover.

Oh ok. Mine didn't have any grooves either but like I said mine was a tight fit so it stays put. If you had a Dremel you could make some grooves.

Mine is same as others mentioned, just sits on top of the overflow.

I think I'll take my dremel and cut out a grove so it doesn't fall off. I guess with the eurobrace it hold the cover in place, on mine it slides off almost every time I take the screen cover off.

Nothing deep, just a small groove so it doesn't slide off.

unless you have a super steady hand, don't dremel freehand. you can get a router table attachment to help make a straight cut/groove.

Why is your screen cover even touching it to remove?

With a groove cut out you will have to remove to keep it clean else it will build up over time and could crack the teeth in removal. Or if you have some extra acrylic sitting around glue a small lip to the front of it so it catches on that.

Just remember that these lids bend slightly over time and you will likely need to flip it over every few months to keep it from bowing and defeating its purpose. Having that groove might be an eyesore.

Anyone have pictures of the new rustic stands? I looking at ordering the 50gal tank with the rustic grey cabinet.

After reading through the huge thread I know SCA has gone through different cabinet suppliers. How is the quality on the new line?

A ton of people have build threads going on in the tank journal section. Outside of questions about the manufactorer or such there is not too much need for posting in this thread. You will take note that there really is NO thread like this for any other manufactorer...

SCA 50 Gallon Ecotech Marine Edition PNP System with rustic grey stand, SCA 301 skimmer, atman ph2500 return pump, filter floss, media balls, sponge media, overflow cover, 18.5 gallon glass sump, Reef Link, G4 Radion XR15 pro. I'm still waiting for a backorder from SCA of an Ecotech MP10WQD and XRS mounting arm for the XR15 which were included in the system, they'll be here Wednesday. I may not be updating this for awhile as this won't be set up until June, but I will update as I acquire new items for this setup. I'm new to the hobby and still collecting everything needed to properly run and care for this aquarium and it's soon to be inhabitants. Bunch of pics HERE

I’m setting up the 120 gallon SCA tank (very excited).

Did others glue the return pipe inside the overflow to the bulkhead?
I wasn’t sure if when you assemble the loclines through the fabricated holes this was secure enough for the pressures involved.

This would allow for easier removal for cleaning down the road.

Do not glue to the bulkheads in the overflow. You want the ability to pull the pipes later to clean or remove a trapped fish. I did not glue any parts for my in overflow plumbing EXCEPT a slip to female adapter for my locline to screw into. Other then that I can remove every portion of the plumbing as needed inside the overflow.

To be clear you don't glue anything "inside" the overflow, but "to" the overflow, or the pipes going to the sump you do glue right right? Seems common sense but wanted to make sure.

Everything under the tank is glued including to the bottom of the bulkhead (unless you replaced with threaded bulkhead that is threaded on inside of opening in which case you screw and use plumber paste)

Don't forget some unions!

Only my return plumbing is glued(pressure). Full siphon and emergency that have no pressure, are just fitted. My bulkheads are screw in type. If I had slip bulkheads, I would glue them regardless of which pipe it was.

Do not glue anything in the overflow, friction fit is fine. You want to be able to pull all the pipes out of the overflow for cleaning or fish catching.

Cool. Should be getting my customer SC tank here in about a week. Thanks for your note on the no euro-brace on the posterior side of the tank, great attention to detail on that point.

I’m in the club! It’ll be a year or two before I can set it up but it’s mine. 150 and sump. Custom stand and plumbing. It’s under 1 year old and just needs cleaning. Wasn’t even set up long enough to get coraline on the overflow.

Question about the foam sheet on the bottom. It tore as we were attempting to pull the tank out of the vehicle. What would you all suggest as a substitute?
