Gongorian turning white

I have this gongorian. The stalk is turning white and the polyps don't seem to be doing anything. Some are retracted, some are extended and it doesn't seem to change.

Is it dying or dead?

What type of gorgonian. Some are synthetic and some are not. How long have you had it. When you touch it does it fall apart. If so, then it is dying. I would take it out and cut it back to the live tissue and go from there.

You may have the coral too close to the light.

Close proximity to the light may be causing it to bleach out and turn this white color you are describing.

Hopefully it hasn't been like this for too long or it may never recover.
Good Luck!

Shake the white parts a lil, and if it starts to flake off majorly, then it's prolly on it's way out. If so, then cut it back to where there is live tissue only. Not sure what type you have, but I would try and keep it submerged in saltwater the whole time. Put in low light w/some decent flow if possible. Some Gorgs can be a tough IMO
