Not another lighting upgrade...

Im running 1-175 watt MH XM buld
1-55 watt actinic
1-65 watt 50/50
on a 36gal 30"x15"x18" to the sand bed mounted about 8-9" above the water I thought that would be plenty.

I just saw these 2 at my LFS. The green one's "glow" really minded me of the Japanese green one BonsaiNut Posted on the first page.

Sorry, the link to that video is dead. The movie showed my Saddleback Clown disappearing completely into the carpet anemones mouth.

These are gorgeous anemone pics, folks!

Only one pic of a S. gigantea however And that S. gigantea is three + years in captivity.

They are really becoming rare in the stores. I have only seen two in the greater LA area in the last six months. They are my favorite anemones too...

I have had this blue haddoni for a little over a year in a 33 gallon cube, but moved him to my 54 corner tank 2 weeks ago. So far he is doing well. Moving around a little trying to find a spot where he will be happy. My female maroon clown is absolutely in love with him. I got lucky and picked this up in a LFS that had no idea what it was. They said he keeps eating all the fish and they just wanted to get rid of it...I paid $35.00. At the time he was about 9 inches in diameter...now he is about 13 inches.
This is him in his new home.

Here he is in the 33 gallon tank.

Pikey,

What lighting did you have your blue carpet under in the 33 gallon cube? It looks great!

You're welcome

Well to add, here's mine a day after I got him. He's much bigger now.

It's under actinic lights.

Thanks is right!! Those pics are amazing, with good bits of info too!
I notice that the babies are all brownish, and the adults are the amazing variety of colors... how do different strains of algae end up with the anemones (and produce those colors)??

HI there, I have a 20g Reef Tank with a 29g Ecosystem sump, well I think I decided to go for ligthing with the hellolights 4x55watt PC retrofit about 5 inches form water surface, with 2 10,000k and 2 Actinic 03...

Could I be able to keep a carpet with this light?

I plan on upgrade later in the future to a 60 cube and just transfer the PC retro and add an extra 150 HQI pendant and run all 4 PC with actinics 03 only...

THX in advance...

Arcab :

From
http://biodiversity.uno.edu/ebooks/ch1.html

Quote:
Deeply-folded oral disc (more pronounced with size), covered with short (average 10 mm), slightly tapering tentacles that typically all vibrate constantly
I'll let you check out the guide and form your own opinion. The Gigantae's Ive seen generally have the small tapering tentacles similar to the one in the pic posted by Bare Bottom in the other [Purple Monster thread]. They also twitch together which is amazing to watch.

The dots on the column are referred to here
Quote:
Non-adhesive verrucae on upper column blue to maroon, contrasting with yellowish, pinkish, tan, greenish-blue, or gray-green colum
Hope that helps..........

Great pics. Really like the BLue!
Here is a pic of mine:

Carpet in 90g

This guy is about 4 months old in my tank and about 6 inch wide.
I put him up front to start and moved about 6 inchs and hasnt moved since. No clowns yet!

Question: Do you a Tank Raised clown would catch on to him as a host?

Loves raw SQUID!

Cheers.

Check out the pic in this thread:

kmu- a 20 gallon is not large enough for host Pacific carpet anemones. There is a 'mini carpet' species available that would do well in your system, though...

Here's my blue carpet that I've had for a few months now. A pair of saddlebacks now call it home

Those are some beautiful anemones that were posted. The wife and I picked up a green S. Haddoni today. I hope to post a pic of it sometime soon. I have wanted this critter for a couple of years and just now felt that I was ready to keep it. Wish me luck!!! I have a pair of tank raised "false Percs" now and I am hoping they will accept it as a host. I eventually want to replace my percs with a couple of skunks.
