Monterey Bay Aquarium
Hi Northcal folks. I'll be making a trip up north from LA to SF and plan to make a stop at this famous aquarium. Any suggestions? Locations/promos to purchase the tickets at a good price? Thanks.
PS...planning to do some fishing up north too |

Check out the Steinhart Aquarium in SF at Golden Gate Park if you have time. I personally think it is better.

Yes it does depend. Monterey has a fantastic kelp forest display as well as one of the largest pelagic fish display.

For LFS I liked Neptune @San Jose if you come along 101 and if you visit East Bay I liked Aquatic Collection @Hayward. GL.

Thanks a lot to dknydiep for the tickets and everyone for the suggestions. I ended up going to both Steinhart Aquarium and the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. It was a phenomenal experience. The "tentacles" exhibit at the Monterrey Bay was mesmerizing, along with that ginormous Open Ocean display. I also got a chance to talk to a lead scientist at Steinhart as they were unboxing 30 huge boxes full of SPS Frags fresh from Fiji! Had a short chat with him before security kicked me out since it was closing time. All those beautiful Rock fishes I saw at the aquariums got me hungry - too bad my fishing attempts were all a failure.

I've been in the Bay Area most of my life and have yet to go diving in Monterey Bay. Too cold, but everyone I know says it's worth the experience.
