Here is the guy I have currently. I have had him for a year now.

Here is the one I had years ago.

I did a semi-scientific study with my tank when I had RB's. The Dragon Faced Pipe did eat RB's but it did not make a significant difference in the RB population in my tank. So, eventually I used interceptor and it took out my pod populations and the pipefish suffered. No one should ever get a pipefish to control RB's.

In my experience, the only fish you can't keep with Dragon Faced Pipefish are pod eating fish like most wrasses or any fish that will directly torment the pipefish. I have BT Tangs, occ clowns, I have had Chromis, I have small gobies and blennies, and firefish. None of these fish ever paid any attention to the pipefish. They completely ignored it.

dragonface pipefish

I've had mine for four months now.
I got him from DFS and I have him in a 75 gallon mixed reef with SPS and LPS.

I was also a little worried about him getting stuck in the vortech, (mp40) so I threw on the sponge filter they give you with it so he couldn't get near the impeller if he does get too close. I've seen him swim up in front of it and ride the current across the tank picking pods off the glass, haha.

Tank mates are three Lyre-tail Anthias and a Yellow Coris Wrasse and they all ignore him. I'm planning on adding another one although I'm going to wait a few months to make sure the pod population can handle another pipe in there.
