I have caught literally hundreds of thousands of stomatopods - but mostly in tropical waters. There are fewer than a dozen species of mantis shrimp in North Carolina waters but only three or four are common and only a couple are easily accessible. Squilla empusa are taken by shrimpers, but also can be caught from burrows in extreme low intertidal mud flats. Coronis might be collected from low intertidal sand flats using a Yabbie Pump. Neogonodactylus wennerae occurs in cavities but generally below 20 feet,

I catch/caught lots of Odontodactylus Scyllarus as they are the easiest to find and capture for me (at the moment), can't go diving and not see one.
