Tomorrow I mount the 6 ft runner board the 4 AI EXT tank mounts will attach to.
Need to pick up some hardware. I'll be doing a bunch of measuring. |

Pink, red, maginta, etc... (Aka grow lights) light have been used in Hydroponics for years.
No doubt it wouldn't have a problem growing macro better than 5-20k lighting. But, with that said; many as you know use a simple clamp light and CFL bulb supporting their fuges no problem. I have a buddy with an AI sol (same blue/white LED combo) over his dedicated refugium tank and he grows the heck outa both Caulerpa and Chaeto! Last edited by Joeb1983; 03/30/2016 at 08:52 PM. |

Cut 45's on the ends so it's less viewable from the sides.

Side view.
Again, it's only temp installed. Trying to find out the best height to set the fixtures above the waterline... 14" is what comes to mind... Any input? Last edited by Joeb1983; 03/31/2016 at 11:32 PM. |

Thanks dude!
The EXT tank mounts do look awesome, but Ive only ran one before on my 60 cube and it looked great, now I have 4; I notice things I didn't before. I mounted all 4 and its proving to be kinda a pain setting all the axis the same and getting them spot on. Height (I have a board cut to set them to 14" above water line) but due to sag/droop one might be a tad lower. With the 12" extension rail the fixtures sag. The main bar attached to the back is fine, its just the fixtures sag a tad and they all dont sag the same... Getting them all parallel with each other is proving to be a task as well, but this is only temporary as the tank need to be removed to drill the stand and move the tank setup to the fish room, so Ill have to do this all again. (This is obviously just mock up) I'm literally OCD and its driving me nuts. |

I'd be exactly the same way, seriously. I love symmetry and I love clean jobs. If it isn't clean, I itch to make it look clean lol.

All 4 Vegas mounted and paired to my director until I get the Apex up and running.
Picked up some adhesive wire claps to make the fixtures power cords as sleek as possible. Should have no problem with light coverage. Edit: yes I'm running the MP40's cord down. |

Mounted the MP40 and Vectra drivers under the cabinet via Ecotechs driver mount/holders seeing how everything will be Apex controlled.
A little snazzier than double-sided tape or Velcro. Speaking of the Apex, I know you really don't even need the display, but I'd like to utilize it for quick reference. Just can't figure out a clean way to mount it. I don't want to have it under the stand and have to open the door every time... I thought about using a suction cup GPS/phone car mount and have it off the side glass, or mount it in the wall centered above the overflow. |

I'm going to run Kalk on this tank via my ATO.
I have an extra MP10 and I'm thinking of running in the 16 gallon poly tank... Haven't really heard anyone doing this... Any input? I would premix in a 5 gallon, let it settle out then fill the tank leaving the gunk behind. |

Just had an idea in regards to Kalk and questioned it, so I posted this thread:
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2571830 As far as the clips go; I get them at Home Depot. They have different sizes. However, I haven't been able to find them at Lowes... Here is a link: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-B...1538/100161019 I try to keep everything clean the best I can. This tank is coming along slowly but surely. As with most things its finding the time and money. Placed an order with BRS today to include the correct schedule 80 bulkheads. Still need to pick up some Apex modules, but they are nothing needed. |
