280 Gallon Tank Build For My Office - Page 3

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hand the Radion XR30W lights... I have a total of 4 units and will be spreading them across the top of the tank... they will sit about 14-16" above the tank.... but, my ceiling in the fish room is like 14'-0" high.... is there an easier way to do this than to run the cables from the top?..

Here is the room... ceiling is very high up...

what to do?...

You can build a frame into the wall, and hang them from that, only need a few 2x4s.

what I would do is build a plywood shelf at the height you want (about 14") then cut out the four rectangular holes in the shelf for the radiions to sit in. 11.25" x 6.5" holes then use a 1/4" shoulder bit on a router to give you the correct final hole and set them into to that. IMO would be a cleaner look as well.

Thanks for the idea... but I am now trying to figure out how I can make the entire light fixture/assembly move up and down... it will definitely help me with the cleaning...

Thanks for the suggestion... I'm going to look into making a light aluminum frame for all for lights so I can hang it and have it able to move up and down...

I put up a 12 kW solar system on the top of our building as well.... this will pretty much run the aquarium system and more... we have monitoring systems so we can show clients how much electricity we are saving and how the majority of the tank runs on solar energy....(except for at night... lol)

I'm sure the tank will be Platinum Leed Certified... the rest of the interior space is close.. but the building is not!! lol...

Definitely a good idea, I wish I had done something like that. Drummerreef did a similar thing with his tank, had his lights slide back so he could access the tank better. He has a huge thread and i'm not sure where it is in there to tell you to look...but it is very professional looking.

so.. here is an update before I leave the country to go to Taiwan...
Woodwork is being completed and hopefully it will be done by the time I get back.

Wood paneling around the fish tank display.... this wood paneling will be finished with a high gloss white...

Did I mention I am also building a Whiskey Bar in the adjacent room... hahahahahaaaa
All employees are looking forward to it... LOL

Hopefully I'll see some really cool and well priced corals to ship back somehow from Taiwan!!!

So it is finally done... the fish wall is done...

Now it is time for all the plumbing and everything in the fish room....
