The secret is I have 4 Tunze 6200's in the tank. Two in each custom made wave box.

cant wait to get it stocked like yours.. any bigger pix and any more info on that canopy? i have 3- 400 watt lights now, but im planning leds, and may possibly try a canopy like that... where does it hang from and did u make a stronger structure for hanging it?
The canopy hangs from a piece of oak that I screwed into the rafters of the house. From there it is suspended from stainless shell chain that attaches to the canopy. It raises and lowers just like a car hood for major maintenance because it is hinged to the far side of the tank.

I didn't take any pictures of the clam doughnut before it went into the tank. Now it is covered in stuff and hard to see.

Basicly I made aragocrete and poured it into a 15 gallon muck bucket with a 5 gallon salt bucket in the middle serving as the doughnut hole. I poured it about 5 inches thick and let it cure.

For the frag tank I took my old acrylic aquarium and sawed it down to 24 inches high. Then I attached a new Euro brace. It is lit by a single 400 watt halide. Water feeds by gravity from the main display. Flow is provided by a Tunze 6100.

For the BTA grow out tank water flows by gravity from the frag tank. Lighting is a 250 watt halide. Every 30 days or so I manually split the BTA's

Thumbs up

Hi Brad !

Mu congrats from the Republic of Panama. I have only one question for you:
I was under the impression that you can not keep SPS, LPS and Soft corals in the same reef system. Most of the TOM shows the with SPS and LPS but not with softs corals.
Yr comments will be appreciated.

Regards

Where can I find more information on your wavebox system? I'm building a new tank, and I love the clean design of yours.

So with a tank this size would you think it be possible to be able to run it well with equipment that can only be put under the tank as there would be no fish room to do so?

Fantastic tank!

I found your comments on the life cycle of sand (approx. 5 years) very interesting. Most folks seem to keep or add more sand to their beds. Never have I seen a recommendation to change the sand on any kind of regular basis. Algae issues have been my only real problem with keeping my tank looking good. I thought the algae breakouts were really due to my husbandry. I think I will include a sand bed change every 4 to 5 years now. Maybe at some point I will also look into your artificial bed. That's an excellent idea.

I will also try your feeding recipe.

Thanks for sharing your tank and your insight with us.

Hi Mantis,
Congratulations on TOTM!
I was wondering if you could tell me what kinds of gorgonians you have, if they are NPS, and if so, if you supplement beyond the food you've listed as making.
Thanks!
