Green Carpet Anemone

Anyone have any experience with these, looks like I am having trouble with mine.

I've not had a carpet before, bt have a LTA and several BTA's. What kind of lighting? I know people say they do fine under lower lighting, but my BTA's didn't like it when I dropped light back. How much flow is it receiving? What are your parameters? If you don't get answers here, maybe try the clownfish and anemone forum.

He's running two 175W MH w/ two VHO's on Angela's old 80G bow. Return pump is a GenX30 and his closed loop is 1200G thru a seasquirl. Last time we check his parameter:

Amonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0
SG: 1.025
Ca: 330
Alk: 7.0

Joey, we never did check your Ph.

I think it just need some time to adjust and/or find a good home. He's more worry about it dying and killing everything in his tank. We read somewhere on WWM that when they die they can wipe out a tank. Just didn't know if this is true and if anyone ever kept one in their reef.

I had a blue one a few years ago and I did just about wipe out my tank. I think it came in unhealthy and caused this problem. Since then I have been gun shy about carpets but think that they are awsome when they are well. Best of luck.

PH per Critter was 8.2, I think Alk was 3.5

Ca is a little low, but not sure if that would cause the problems... How long has he had it? It might just be a highly stressed anemone...

It takes a while for them to adjust. I had one years ago but finally got rid of it because it liked to eat the most expensive fish in the tank. He was on the bottom of a 55 with 4 VHO bulbs and did fine.

Here is a pic of what it looks like tonight. When I got home today it had moved to the center of the tank and was fully open and looked good, I actually smiled for a change. It was attempting to move up the rocks from when I got home to when I left. Then went to dinner and got back and it was laying face down in the sand. I gently flipped it back upright and here it is.

I have one now for a year and it goes in cycles that it gets hudge and oter times I thaught I killed it. are you feeding it?

I tried to yesterday, didn't look like much stuck. I was going to tonight, but it looked like this. Guess i'll wait until tomorrow. How often you suppose to fed, couple times a week>?

How sticky is the oral disc? If it is still sticky, just give it some time. If it really starts to shrink up and bleach (looks like it is holding decent color right now), I'd start watching it a lot more closely.

Hi, I have a green one, and looking at the foot in that last pic it doesn't look too healthy. I think it will be a gonner in a couple of days so keep an eye on it, if it's starts to look any worse cut your losses and take it out before it does any damage.

If you can try to place it in a hole on the sand so it can sink it's foot in. It might recover but as I said it doesn't look good.

I feed mine one silverside a week, and it's about 12" across now.

Thanks everyone for your input, I went ahead and took it out for fear of damaging others. Oh well, live and learn the hard way.
