What did I do wrong with my colt coral?
I started fragging my colt about a month ago. It had been in my tank for 3 weeks and was about 9 inches tall. It has now shrunk up to about 4 inches tall. I use the toothpick method to frag. I put one frag on the toothpick with a dab of glue above the coral. It seemed to do good for 2 days and a week later the coral was gone. Give me some advice about the fragging or the coral problem please!!!

Colts are notoriously difficult to frag. They seem to take forever to attach and even when they do if they aren't happy they might let go again. I have a large colt colony (about 16 inches tall and 18 inched in diameter) that will sometime shrink up like that when my clown goby tries to hide in it. It usually comes back to normal within a couple minutes. Even when I cut a branch off it doesn't usually take more than an hour or two to return to its normal size. I have had the best luck using tulle to mount the frag. Just put the frag on a plug, wrap a piece of tulle around it, and wait. After it is well attached I remove the tulle. It also works to put the frags in small cups with some sand or rubble in the bottom with the tulle over the top. After the frag attaches to the sand it is much easier to mount to a plug.
