Just Some Pictures

I got out the camera last night to take a few pictures. None of them were very good, and most were washed out in the blue hue of the actinics, but I'm still proud of my Ricordeas.

Teal Green R. florida

Blue R. florida

Tri-Color R. florida (splitting)

My newest R. yuma addition. It has a light green rim, a pink body, and a light green center with a neon green mouth.

And our newest addition from Saturday's trip to Reef Revolutions, a $10 R. florida. It doesn't seem like much, and I don't have the lights to bring out its true color, but it looks like it might be a browned out, pink Ricordea. This will be the ultimate cheap find if it turns out to be a 100% Pink R. florida. Me and Sonya are crossing our fingers. We've seen it more opened and it's the same pink right now as the picture of the R. yuma above it.

..........And for additional photos......

As many of you know, I had a coral meltdown caused by a two year old metal halide bulb (long story). Well, thanks to papagimp, ReeferKeith, and a few others, I have almost all my variety still, but just not as big of colonies. All my large colonies are now the size of frags. It's like starting all over again. I estimate that I lost nearly 75% of my corals. But, what has survived is alive, recovering, and most are even growing.

Here is a shot of some of my remaining Zoas. These were rapidly growing in Adam's tank, so we split them and I took them home as a test to make sure they would survive. They have and a few are starting to spread slowly.

This guy just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I call it a Superman Rhodactis because it is blue based with red polyps, but it isn't the original Superman Rhodactis which is actually a Tongan/Bullseye Mushroom.

To my surprise, I nearly lost all my once-thought-of-as-indestrucatble Green Star Polyps. Well, it didn't take long for them to recover, but here they are close to their once-was glory.

Congratulations on the recovery efforts, things look good even under actinic only.

There has been more than one "COMAS Members to the rescue story" in the last several months. What a fantastic group of people and my hat is off to those who offer selfless service. Hey maybe that's a new club program, Member(s) of the month.

I agree. And as they always say, what goes around comes around. That couldn't be any more true. I've helped a few reefers out with holding corals, cleaning, water chemistry, tank setups/take downs, etc. Now the favor has been returned with people helping me in my time of need. To this day, I'm still amazed at how COMAS pulls through no matter what the odds are.

Very nice, glad they are doing so well in your tank. Just wait till you get the rest of em, lol. Those radioactive alien eyes are finally starting to propogate themselves a bit more. And some of the others are just sick! (in a good way)

Hey Adam. Remember how we were talking about lighting making such a difference in color? How about the look of the Green Star Polyps and those Fire & Ice Zoas on the left of this picture.

Agreed. With the rate that the Tri-Color Ric is beginning to reproduce, it won't be too hard, but you sure have a lot more Rics than I do.
