LiterMeter dosing - question
Hi,
I would like to dose two part using the LiterMeter III doser. I'm just starting my tank: 120g tank + 35 g sump. Right now, let's just say there's live rock in my tank, a few fishes and that's it. My question is, in the recipe, it's says I should dose 0.2ml/gallon for a New Tank each day. So that means, I would have to dose: 0.2ml/gallon x 155 gallon = 31ml per day of both Calcium and Alkalinity. Only problem, is how can I do this, if the minimum dosing per day on the LiterMeter III (per pump) is 50 ml ? Any suggestions ? Thanks, Ginzo |

I wouldn't dose two part on a new tank. Use lime or kalkwasser until you have a load large enough to switch to two part. It will be easier to dose kalkwasser for a few weeks until your tank starts sucking calc.
If you want to use two part, either do it manually or you could try cutting the mix in half and doubling the doses. So you would make two gallons of calc rather than one gallon and dose twice as much. I do not know this will work, but don't see why it wouldn't. |

I agree. kalk first then 2 part . However the LM3 is also a great pump to use for top off water and kalkwasser. When you change over to the two part you can use it for that also : )
to answer your question , you dilute the two part . if you need to do 30ML you double the amount of water in the solutions and double the amount you dose to 60ML. it's kinda odd that the LM3 doesn't let you dose less than 50ML but this is a really easy work around. |

Ditto. When I initially started the 2 part, I had to dilute. But once calcification starts to happen you will likely be increasing your daily rates pretty quickly on a 120g. My consumption rate nearly doubled in 6 months.
When you get over 50ml you can start going full strength or continue 1/2 strength to make it less likely to precipitate. I went ahead and just left 1/2 strength, the Baking soda part is harder to mix full strength so I think it's easier. When it gets to be a pain to mix that often you can then start to mix 5 gals at a time.
