Piggyback LFS orders?

I'm going to place an order for inverts for the zoo project with DrsFosters Smith within the next couple of days. If anybody would like we can piggyback orders if anyone bneeds something. If we can get a total over $200, shipping will be free which will save us some $$$. Please rsvp if interested.

OK folks. I am going to place the order tomorrow (Sunday) for tuesday delivery. They just received the re legg hermits that I've been waiting for so I have to strike before they sell out again. These are the best snails for reef tanks and won't kill snails and they eat cyano and diatoms. However the shipping special is no longer in effect. However, by combining orders, we can each save money so the more people the cheaper the shipping. You can pick up your orders at my home on Tuesday after 6PM. For those interested, send me the exact item and number and price. I won't be able to tell you shipping costs until I know how many but it won't be much even if just a couple go in.

Jerry, wow I'm glad I checked here before leaving. Iâ€™m going to be busy the rest of the day and I don't think I will be able to check things out at F&S tonight. If I do get a chance later tonight I will pm you with it. If not tonight I will for sure tomorrow morning early. What time tomorrow would be the latest I could get it to you by? By the way my red legg herms do kill and eat snails. At least in my tank.

How many crabs do you plan on ordering? I plan on getting crabs, and snails... I'm not sure what price to put for the stuff I want as quantity discounts come into play. I plan on doing some Red legs, a few scarlets, some Astraea snails and some shrimp (maybe a fish). If we get an idea of quantity, I could have a better idea of what to put for prices.

Dave: The dwarf red tip hermits are from mexico and have symmetrical legs. They are not snail killers like the Scarlet Reef hermits. I will be ordering 60 of them for the zoo tank. They typically go for $1.29 per crab but when you order in larger quantities the price drops. Over fifty crabs is .99 per crab. They are sold out of some of the more preferrable snails but I will order some Nerites and Trochus snails. Crabs are far better cleaners anyway. I won't place the order until tomorrow night. I will put it on a credit card so folks can pay me upon receipt of the order.

A few questions before the order. Would 5 of the dwarf red tip hermits be good for my 90? My youngest thinks herms are cool to watch. I didnâ€™t know they had reef and snail safe ones. How active are they, do they forage all the time or are they nocturnal feeders? And what does everyone think about Red Sea Stars? I have a shallow sand bed almost non existent really. There are bare spots. It does not say they are sand sifters but we all know how the descriptions are on these sites. Are they as reef safe as they say and good detritus eaters? My blennies are poop factories lol. And last but not least will two cleaner shrimp get along?

Most hermits are fairly active. You just have to catch them when they are up and about. I recommend any brittle stars for cleaning detritus from reef tanks. I am not familiart with the red sea stars per se. You can house multiple cleaner shrimp. Please let me know by about 7PM tonight so I can place the order. So far mach 03 sent me an order. So if you go in as well that cuts shipping in 1/3s. You would have to shlep up her to pick it up though.

At this point they don't have any brittle stars correct? That was one of the things I wanted to get... They really seem to be low on selection.
Anyone have any opinion of the Linckia Sea Sta? I really want a star, but I just don;t know which ones are good, and which ones are bad.

I'm on dial-up here at home, so it'll take me forever to search their site and find out what they have that I might want, so here's the basics...

2 Emeral/Mithrax crabs (smaller ones, if you can specify)
1 Fighting conch
5 Cerith snails

If they don't have any of those things, that's fine - just order me what they do have and let me know what I owe you.

The best detritus starfish are either serpent stars or brittle stars. They only come out at night and they are a great part of a clean up crew. Donâ€™t expect to see them much if ever after adding them to the tank. If you are seeing them a lot they are probably starving to death. If you want a beautiful starfish that you will see during the day you could go with the fromia. I have one of these and he is doing very well for me. The linckia is also an option for attractive stars that come out during the day. The blue one is considered really hard to keep but if you have good live rock and good water quality you can keep them for a long time. I have proof because I have had a blue linckia starfish for over four years. He has even lost two legs and they have grown most of the way back, something many people claim is very very rare for this starfish in captivity. Viva la stubby!

Order has been placed. Zoo gets 60 red tipped mexican hermits, 5 yello tipped crabs, 5 trochus snails, 20 nerite snails, 1 cleaner shrimp. With shipping with the $25 discount it cost the zoo $106. nOT TOO BAD. Some things I wanted, othersnails, brittle stars etc. are all out of stock. Maybe we can pick them up at Dr. Mac and sons.
