looks great!! I think you will love it when its all done. I had a great stand and canopy and opted to go that route just because its different and classy. Just about every stand and canopy you see is some sort of wood so its nice to see the diversity that stuff can add. Cant wait to see more, keep the pic's comeing!

Thanks for the comments guys. There are three things I really like about the stand. First, it's height, 40". Second, the opening is 62", with two 31" doors that butterfly open. Lastly, I really think I'm going to like this finish. I'll have to get started on the hood here shortly. I can't wait to get things transferred over, however, I'm not looking forward to the transfer itself.

Well, I got it finished and unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, the picture taken below was with the flash. It clearly shows the lack of workmanship in my spray painting skills. In real light, that splotchyness is not noticeable. My wife likes it and I have recieved praise for my "first time" building a stand

And here it is with the 40 breeder sitting in it...getting a feel for things"

Nice Job Dave.
If I may offer a suggestion, Caulk all the interior joints and paint the entire inside several times with a waterproof paint to seal it and stop the wood from getting damp.

Looks great though,

Paul.

Do you think I could get away with a couple of coats of Kilz? That's what I was originally considering.

Here's the tank in the back of my little Nissan PU.

Here it is sitting on the new stand with the old canopy. I'm 6' for reference.

It's been a couple of weeks since any action on this thing. I got the canopy frame done and a little plumbing completed this weekend. I have all the parts to finish, just need to find the time.

Here's the return line coming from the pump.

Not a lot done, but it's some progress.

Alright, did some more work. I painted the inside of the stand with an exterior latex:

I put some sides on the canopy:

I then painted the inside of the canopy with white exterior latex:

And finally, I got the Lumenarc mini's installed and the outside painted. I have the front cover which is painted as well, just not installed.

I'm waiting on my VHO's to arrive so I can install those. I have a friend making heatsinks for the ballasts, they should be done Mon or Tues. I have another friend making a rail for the VHO's to be installed so that I can slide the front one out of the way. Just a few pieces of hardware needed, I'm going to start mixing water this week and the plan is to make the move next weekend.

Dave, is this tank going to be outside?

One other suggestion....brace the inside of the doors to prevent the ply from warping in the heat/moisture.

P.

So far I say it's looking very good. If your not running a chiller, I'd put a few fans in the canopy. I'm really liking the textured paint look, actually, the more I see it, the more I like it.

Thanks for the comments.

No, it's not going to be outside...it's just taking me that long to get it inside Thanks for the door support idea. I've thought about it, but it really hasn't been a problem so far.

If I need a fan, I'll use a clip on. I've never needed a chiller. I run my 75 at 75 degrees without one, so I'll see what happens.

I really like the paint as well, but have to give JD credit for the suggestion.

Well, I'm getting closer. Here's the tank with plumbing doing a freshwater test before getting it inside. I still had doubts about the stand holding without a center support It's been running all night everything looks good. Did the power loss test, no problems there either.

Here's some of the flow from the MAG 12, I've got it throttled back a hair so it's pushing about 800 gph through 2 outlets (combined)

This afternoon, I'm picking up about 120 gallons of water and will start mixing

No, I got a piece of self adhesive vinyl from a local sign company, 2'x6' for $15 and it is removalble if I needed to. Standard black color, although I had many colors to choose from

Well, I installed my eliminator power centers, began rinsing the pulverized limestone (that stuff is dirty...requires lots of rinsing of which I will have to do some more tomorrow) and drained the tank from its freshwater test. The move is on for tomorrow, the only setback is my 6' VHO bulbs did not get delivered this week because they were broken and FedEx sent them back to the shipper. Tracking said they were out for delivery, but never showed up, when I checked later the day of delivery, that was the status "damaged, returned to shipper."

After my back recovers The move is done, just waiting for the dust to settle so I can aquascape probably tomorrow. Josh, you're more than welcome to come over just give me a call to set something up. I'll get some pics up later, not many taken though as it was a job draining the 75, moving it, bringing in the 150, filling and just putting stuff in the tank. I still have two buckets with coral in them.

Here's a few pics from the day, first everything unloaded into every container available from the 75:

The newly emptied space:

And tank in place...man it's murky in there:
