canopy for SFE
Im trying to get a canopy built for a tank w/ a snowflake eel
I read all about them being escape artists so Im wondering if you could show some examples of an eel proof canopy the canopy is tightly sealed all along the edge of the tank the only opening is covered by plastic gutter guard which is too small for the eel to fit through how high can they climb up? would he be able to climb up the canopy and exit the open top? (about 13" above the water surface) thanks for any suggestions you can offer, and please post pics/links of eel proof setups

the way that eels usually get out is by slithering out. I have never even heard of an eel who managed to jump a foot up in the air to clear a canopy. they certainly wouldnt bother to keep trying to slither up that far. so how far can they get up? well, it really depends on the length of the specimen in question. I think a third of its length would be a good safe rough estimation before the eel gave up trying. jmo

should I also assume that the overflow is fair game and seal that off well?
