My Nano Reef Equipment List

I plan to have a 10 gallon nano reef.
Please let me know any important stuff I am missing from the following list.
1. 24 Inch CF 130 Watt Aqualight:

2. Either Taam Rio Nano Skimmer/Filter:

or just the plain Fission Nano Skimmer:

I have a TopFin 30 filter I could use if I just got the fission nano skimmer but what do you think would be better? The Nano skimmer/filter that way it's less crap in the tank?
How high does the Rio skimmer go above the tank if any of you have one. I have a shelf above where I will be storing my tank so I am concerned it won't fit under it.

4. Stealth 50 watt heater (will I need bigger?):
I plan on finding the smallest one I can.

5. About 10 lb. Live Rock
6. A bag of live sand
I already have a Master Test Kit for my Freshwater Tank, will I need any other testing equipment for this SW tank?

Obviously corals and fish will come after the tank is cycled.

Do NOT get the fission nano skimmer. Try to go as big as you can tank will actually save you money in the long run to go as big as possible in the first place.

Well I am really limited for space as I am in a college dorm. I just want a SW really bad so I figured I would start with this and keep it as healthy as possible and get the experience over the next couple years then go much bigger.

hey man i understand the wanting to have a SW tank in your dorm room....welcome to my life....anyway i just wanted to say that one of my roomates has a fission skimmer and it didint work at all! With a 10g tank it going to be hard to find protien anyway so he invested in a bak pak skimmer and its doing just fine. I too have a bak pak skimmer in my 20g long in ive only been pleased with it. However i know as college students money gets a little you might have to save for the bak pak if you so choose. goodluck

For test kits you'll want ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and alk. I bought a PH meter for the same price as a test kit though, really glad I did. If you want to use the same test kits for the SW tank, check the kits. Some FW stuff isn't meant for SW and others aren't as precise

You'll also need a refractometer to check salinity. Hydrometers are cheaper, but less accurate so look for a good used refractometer.

I'll save ya some money on the light, I've got a 24" Current USA Orbit 2x65 PC for sale for $100 shipped. It's in great condition, I only used it for a few months.
