How much Permoxyn to use to lower dis. orgs?
My bottle of Permoxyn spilled in the mail and the label got destroyed, but most of the liquid is still there.
Can someone tell me what it says on the label for how much to use per gallon (20 gal tank) to lower dissolved organics? And whether there are any special precautions like staining etc.? Thanks !! |

That product is potassium permanganate, and I wouldn't recommend using it at all. It's an oxidizer, and can be dangerous.

Instructions:
To improve water quality by oxidation of dissolved and suspended organic materials, add to aquarium or pond water 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons. This dosage is safe for biological filtration. The water being treated will change from purple to brown to colorless. A partial water change is recommended after treatment is completed. As a dip for disease treatment: add 1 tsp. for 5 gal. Dip fish for no longer than 30 minutes. And I agree with Jon. We use to use this stuff in the olden days a lot but I do not recommend it any more. We use to control its dosage via using an ORP meter. And if you want to use it and don't have an ORP meter you are on your own And you would NEVER add it by the dosage in the instructions.
