Question Mg++ Dilution Problem

So, I started with 990ppm Mg++ in my 120Gal tank. I added 12.0 fl. oz of a (4 cups Mag Flake in .5Gal DI-water) solution. This raised my Mg++ by 150ppm to 1140ppm. Now, assuming this new sample was throughly mixed, how many ppm of Mg++ do I have per oz. of sol'n?

150ppm/12oz = 12.5ppm/oz or does the 120G need to factor in?

Thanks,
Jason

I think if you're trying to calc how many PPM of mag is in your actual additive solution,then you need to see how much mag is in each cup of your mag flake(should be in a break down label on container).Then I think just divide total amount of mag by amount of added water ie: .5 gallon-to give your solution strength.The volume of the 120 shouldn't factor in.HTH

For your tank, 1 fl oz is raising Mg by 12.5 ppm. If you were to add more live rock or more sand, the change from 1 fl oz of supplement would rise. For the moment, I wouldn't worry about it, but I would limit the dose to 100 ppm per day.

Well, I was just curious as to the strength of this stuff. I didn't mean to raise it so much, but I think it actually just wasn't mixed well.

Thx
Jason
