Questions about PM
Ok So While my clam population was dying off I saved one and sent it off to pathology. I work for a vet so I took advantage of it. Anyway I recieved the report back and it said that intralesional protozoal organisms were found in the gastric mucosa and digestive gland. Does anyone know the latin name for the protozoa that causes PM? Aside from metronidazole what other drugs can be affective in treatment? Also how long should I wait until I get another clam? All 9 of the ones I had died of one by one is there a known life cycle to these protozoa?
Thanks Gina Link to other thread about what happened. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1229757

there are a whole bunch of types of protozoans. the symptoms your clams showed were not consistent with the symptoms of PM.
i would wait at least a few months before adding another clam |
