Moving tank...thought you guys would know.
Well...I've finally decided to move the tank. I have a 90gal with 25gal sump upstairs in a one year old house. I want to move it to the next wall over which is a load bearing wall and will make the floor joists perpendicular to the tank. The tank is probably okay where it is but it will make me feel better
. Best way to do this? I like my rockwork how it is and don't want to take it out and was thinking of draining as much water as possible...leave the fish with 4 inches and gettin' four guys to pick it up and over. Maybe some 2x4s through the stand to make into handles? No idea. Any help would be great.

Find some easy movers (teflon pads with foam on one side) put one on each corner using a crowbar to lift up each end. Or if the bottom of your stand is solid, you can inch it across the room with golfballs.

Its risky to leave the rocks in. If they shift while in transit...could be very bad!!!

Golfball idea sounds fun...but no it's a four corner stand. What are these easy movers? Wheels of some sort? I forgot to mention that this setup is on carpet.

Leave it where it is and save yourself the headache. The floor joists are fine.

yeah if leaving it on the stand is possible i would try to do that. picking it up with water in it puts a lot of stress on the glass. find some slides or something to get under the stand and SLOWLY slide it to where you want it.

Just go to the local hardware store/wall mart and look for some furniture movers. They come in a few sizes and are very slick on side and will make it very easy to slide the tank/stand acrost the carpet.

hope this makes sense----buy 10 3/4"wooden rods(dows) and lift one side put a few rods under the stand and roll it across the room. keep in mind the rods will stay in the same place so you will need to bring them from back to the front.

Hmm...I like the piano movers idea. Is it a wheel based device/devices?

yes it has big casters and rolls on carpet great. you slide them under both ends like a fridge dolly they stap together around the stand and you push a bar down and it sets them up on the wheels and you roll it where ever you want to. you will still have to take out at least half the water. i am sure someone has some in your area you just have to find them. i have used them to move my piano and it just rolls around with little effort.

here is a link to a set. it is hard to see but you strap them on then push the bar in the middle (towards the bottom) down and it puts them up on the wheels. then release the bar and it wil put the stand back on the ground. pretty slick but as you see not something you want to buy to use once.
