I like it!
are those red feather dusters coming out of that rock. never seen anything like that before. your other feather duster looks like a palm tree. lol is that a lobophyllia in the last pic? it looks like 2 trachy brains glued to a rock.

Yes and yes. We bought the red feather duster rock from SeaLifeFlorida.com. It was labeled a "Red Worm Rock" and my wife just had to have it...lol...lucky thing it turned out to be pretty cool, that thing has red feather dusters ALL over it. That is a Lobophyllia on the bottom. It's remained a bright pink color with neon green splashes through it...we were half expecting it to turn a deeper red instead of the pink but so far that hasn't been the case.

Did you run the stock light for a while before you got the Nanotuners upgrade? If so, how does it compare? Worth the extra cash?

I ran the stock lights for about 3 weeks before i got the nanotuners upgrade...there's a BIG difference, definitely worth the money!

How would you rate the install of the upgrade? Easy? One hour job?

Nice tank. What is that coral in the second to last pic. Looks like some type of SPS, but what kind?

Actually it's about a 4 hour job but that is me and my wife who have little to no electrical experience so I would assume if you have even just a moderate knowledge of wiring you could have it done in 2 hours (or less).

I have no real handy man skills and no electrical knowledge. So I’m a little leery of ordering the upgrade. Any soldering involved?
Thanks for the info. |

mksalt:
You can solder if you want but they provide you with crimp connectors which is what we used as neither of us has any experience soldering. Believe me, if we can do it...ANYBODY can do it...lol. tmc1313: You are correct! That is a Roscoe's Blue Acropora. I liked it and had never given any acro's a try so with my LFS' blessing I bought it.

I'm running 4 36w bulbs, 1 10k, 1 50/50 and 2 actinics. These bulbs are still in the stock hood/canopy so they are almost on the water to begin with and those acros are about 3/4 of the way up my tank so I'm not too worried.

I got some SPS in my BC29 with the stock lighting. Two 36W bulbs. But they are high up in the tank.

Have had a couple of SPS for about 2 months. Hydropora and a Digitata. I think. Tank has been up for three months. I have no experience with them, so I can’t say they are flourishing, but I don’t think they are dying. Kind of an experiment. Here are a few pics.

It looks like there is a white area of bleaching on one of the arms of your Monti. I don't think it's growth, it looks more like tissue recession. Has it always had that white area since you bought it? If not, it it likely a sign that it isn't doing well. The other one looks fine, I'd say it is surviving as I don't see any signs of growth on it either.

I noticed the recession. Not sure what to do about it.
Like I said, kind of an experiment. Thinking about doubling my light like the Kid did from total of 72w to 144W. |
