Problem with digital powerbar

Hi all, I recently received my Profilux Plus II gear, set it all up, and had it working for a couple of days until one of the plugs on the digital powerbar became stuck permanently on. The red indicator light is off, but anything that is plugged into this plug stays on???

I reset the whole thing, and reprogrammed everything, but this did not make a difference. Has anybody else run into the same problem? Is there a way to do a hard reset of the powerbar?

I did notice that someone on one of the UK reef aquarium forums had the same problem with an analogue powerbar. He would fix it by shaking it to loosen something inside that had obviously got stuck. I don't want to do this as I don't want to damage it even more, nor do I want to void the warranty. Should I just send it back for a replacement?

FYI - I am running version 3.05 software and firmware. I had a T5 4 x 54W lighting fixture running off the plug which was set on a timer. It appeared to work for the first couple of days.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Isaac

Stuck on relay, contact your dealer to have it sorted out. Possible causes = High start up load lamp ballasts and power surges

Ok, thanks.

I know this would probably void my warranty, but is this something I could fix? The reason I ask is that I am about to go on holidays for a week, and I don't have time to send it in to be fixed - it's quite urgent!

Not really, other than not use that socket, the rest of the bar would be fine.

Hi Isaac,

use one of the high inrush current protected sockets (see label on powerbar and the manual) for the ballasts.
You can "reanimate" the stuck relay: just knock onto the powerbar strongly, the contacts will open again. You can use this socket for non-critical loads again.

@BigBadBlenny: Can you switch on/off each channel of your powerbar when you activate "manual override"?

Thanks Mathias.....I moved the lights to a high in-rush socket and that seems to have fixed the issue. I suppose I better pay more attention to the instructions lol.

ok i think i figured out my problem. seems the 2 lights on the 4 go on and off with 2 lights on the 6 bar. so on the socket outlet function page if i go into manual and click off and on #5. s5 on the 6 bar and s1 on my 4 bar go on and off. if i go on and off on the #6 slot s6 on the 6 bar and 2 on my 4 bar go on and off.

Sounds like you just need to set the numbering of your digital bar to start at 9.

Sockets 1-4 Dosing Pump
Sockets 5-8 4-Outlet Bar
Sockets 9-14 6-Outlet Bar

You can set the numbering of the digital powerbar using the front panel of the Profilux or from v3.06 forward you can set it in the Extras/Socket Functions area.

It seems it is just in the programming, if you are running a 4 way and 6 way, remember the first 4 assignable numbers can not be assigned, so you start from socket 5 and program from there up, remembering the digital power bar has to be programmed seperatly before use. Explained inthe manual

Sounds like you just need to set the numbering of your digital bar to start at 9.

Sockets 1-4 Dosing Pump

Sockets 9-14 6-Outlet Bar

You can set the numbering of the digital powerbar using the front panel of the Profilux or from v3.06 forward you can set it in the Extras/Socket Functions area.
Elzool has the answer correct

The easiest way to do this is as follows:
Disconnect everything from the profilux apart from the digital powerbar 6way connected to the S1/S4 socket.
Connect from the PC (assuming firmware and profilux control software > version 3.05.
Go to socket functions, and ensure Digital powerbar connected on S1/S4 is checked and save settings.
Then click "Program digital powerbar or dosing pump unit" select "Numbering of a digital powerbar" Click next and set the number to 9. Then click Program.
This will set the digital socket numbers to be 9 - 15.

Your connections should then be, S1/S4 socket to the dosing pump and then daisy chained to the digital power bar (it actually doesn't matter what sequence you connect the digital devices in when daisy chaining)
S5/S8 connect to your analogue power bar (analogue power bars always assume the socket numbers they are connected to e.g connect one to S1/S4 and they will be Sockets 1-4, connect to S5/S8 and they will be sockets 5-8 - this behaviour cannot be changed, unlike digital powerbars or dosing pumps).

This will then give you the following socket numbers:
Sockets 1-4 Dosing pumps
Sockets 5-8 Analogue powerbar 4 way.
Sockets 9-15 Digital powerbar 6 way.

Hope that helps

Steve
