Does it have typical claws or are they like feathery projections

Are the claws pointy? The is usually my deciding factor. Pointy claws are best left in the ocean. If it has cupped claw ends like the emerald crab I might leave it in. I guess the more appropriate question is what do you have to lose in your tank and is it worth it to keep that crab? Most crabs are hidden all the time so not worth having IMO. If this one hangs out all the time and is interesting to look at you have a tough choice.

You can always keep it in the sump!

Yes it looks like a normal crab - no filter feeding things on its claws - just pinchers.
I caught it and it is hiding (for now) in my mantis shrimp tank. |
