Lightbulb lighting question

about how long per day should i leave my aqualight 96w. 50/50 pc lights on each day? I have heard different things from different people and am a little confused. since my 10ks and actinics are on the same switch they run the same amount of time per day. I have been turning them on about 7:30am and off around 8:30pm is this too long??? Also i just got my LED in today its a 1 watt aqualight. is this too much it lights up my whole tank, Very very pretty i just dont know if its too much. thanks for the help

it seems most ppl run 8-10 hrs photo period. a good indication of too much light is heavy algae blooms.

i doubt that 1w will make any difference. you can always put a timer on the moonlight as well so it's not running throughout the entire night.

that maybe what i do. i swear its as almost as bright as the actinics on my old 12g AP. maybe its just because im not used to what a true led is supposed to look like i know in my pod i had to look really hard to even tell they were on

corals only need a few hours of light to actually benefit from it. what i do is i run my haildes on a "double" light cycle. this mean that i have them on from 6am to 12 noon, and 6pm to 12am. i am having great coral growth and colors. also i wake up at 6:30 every day and leave for school and work by 10am and i come home by 8 so i get to see my tank with the lights on most of the time. it's almost like tricking the corals into 2 days in one.
