Question Any experience with Clown Tangs?

Have you ever kept a Clown Tang?
I currently have A kole and yellow tang in 250g.
Thinking of adding the Clown.
Tangs are always jerks for a while and this one is listed as
aggressive.

There is about 4-5 members in my reef club including myself bought a clown tang at one time. Only one still has his. Tough fish to keep imho.

Many years ago I was given a clown tang buy a fellow hobbiest to try and nurse back to health, it had stopped eating. It was not one of the fish I would have intended to buy due to its reputation.

I placed it in my 125 soft coral tank and even in its diminished state, he immediately ruled. The fish gained weight, ate well for me and was an excellent grazer. He was also the last fish that went into the aquarium as no new tank mates were accepted. He later moved on to a new home, and a bigger tank.

They are a very pretty fish and quite aggressive, though they can be difficult. They are similar in temperament to Sohals, yet not as hardy in my experience. They also grow VERY fast.

I've heard that the majority of these tangs are still caught with cyanide, which would explain there quick demise and not taking to aquarium foods. Also, they can be quite aggressive. There tail spin hurts like hell too. Pain was worse than a lionfish or a rabbit fish IMO.

my uncle has one in his 90 gallon. His clown tang is very fat and eats anything he puts in the tank. Hes about 6-7 inches and he will sometimes be a little aggressive to the other fish but no damage to other fish just tells them to back off i want my space.

I have tried several times to keep one and was unsuccessful until recently. I have one now that eats anything I put in the tank and is very healthy. He is definitely the most aggressive fish in the tank, he chases around a Naso that is 3 times his size. Although he does chase a few fish around he never seems to do any physical damage. His looks outweigh his aggression in my opinion.

Thanks for the great insight.
I am going to have John at Don's Hobbies pick me up one while he is in LA LA LAND..
At least now I know what I'm in for. These guys just look so damn cool... wish me luck. I'll post an update after a bit for better or worse...
Thanks again,
