12 gallon aquapod running hot ?s

I have a 12 gal aqua pod hqi Im running it with the glass on it, because my cat gets on it and my daughter at 3 likes to look so topless is out for me what would you suggest?

Would egg crate be the way to go or buy a fan to blow over the back chambers that are open?

The tank at night is 78 and right now is 81.5 is this too hot? Im afraid when summer time hits it will climb anyone had experience with this?

Wait till summer. See if you can locate some poly mesh screen. Its like the window screen but the holes are about 1/8" apart.

Where do they sell the poly screen at?

You can get that screen at any hardware store, lowes, menards, home depot, etc. I think they might even sell it at walmart. If you did go topless, I doubt your cat would want to lay on top anymore, my experience with cats are they don't like water. LOL As far as your 3 yr old, I can say from my experience I just kept telling my son not to touch and after awile he quit.

I have a 12 gallon Aquapod and my boyfriend installed a small fan at the back vents on the side. It helps somewhat but, my tank is still running at 80 F

I have Nano artica chller for 12g, some say why pay more for chiller than the tank...well, I don't want to worry about, . Plus I'm in texas and the chiller is actually cheaper than turning down the thermostat in the house..

I went out today got some egg crate cut it to size and my temp went from 81 to 79 in 2 hrs so this should work good.

I have my heater set at 78 so Im hoping I have cured the problem with egg crate.

I don't want to suggest something already done, but are you still using the stock pump? I switched mine out for a maxijet 600 and my temp dropped 3 degrees. Just a thought
