Background
In the past I had built backgrounds from fresh water tanks..
Made out of styrofoam and cement and I loved it.. worked awsome... I was thinking of building one for my FOWLR tank.... Will this work?.. Will the saltwater mess up the cement or styrofoam causing my tank to crash???.. If this is not the best alternative, what other materials should I use??.. Thanks so much for your help!

Here is a good thread on what you are talking about.
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1300282 Use search to find others. You have to be careful with cement and make sure it cures well. Might be too unruly... I've personally done a smaller overflow cover using the basic build techniques in the thread above. It worked very well and I'm happy with the natural look I got. Just have to make sure that whatever you make does not float because that great stuff is definitely very buoyant.
