Tunze is in tank. Check out the octopus hobs, they do a excellent job for the price. Theres a huge thread on the octo hobs in the eq section.

Any of the corallifes may be a little big but I love them. I have the 65 gal. model running on my 29. (I have mine in sump but you can use it as HOB)

I opted for the Tunze 9010. It takes up similar room to an overflow.

Best of all, its in tank, shuts down the foam when its large cup is full and basically leak proof, which many, if not most hang ons are not.

I have a Coralife Super Skimmer 65 on my 20H and there are no micro bubbles in my tank. It is a heavy stocked tank and I get 1/2 a collection cup of black goo every other day.

No, I have the bubbles in the tube bursting right where the collection cup starts to come out where the cone starts inside the cup. This is how I get my dark nasty skim! I have a small mod on the outflow. To see it click here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSSWNHl4GvA

I created this mod so the bubbles pop inside the mod it is cool because it looks like a small skimmer.

i dont mean to hijack the thread but i would hope my question and observations will help us both get better answers to your question since i am in the same boat looking for a skimmer.

i am not new to reefing but new to Nanos, My GF has a 125g and she has a Tunze 9010, i am NOT impressed with its performace compared to another skimmer i had that cost half as much when i had my 110 reef tank, that being said...

is the tunze 9002 really a good performer, does it require lots of tinkering to get to work right? how do water levels in the "sump" area affect its performace?

i am on a VERY limited budget and i dont want to waste my money and chalk it up to a learning experience, the tunze is an in tank skimmer, would it be a benefit to have an HOB over an in tank (since space is seriously limited in a Nano as is)? i have been reading so many threads in the nano forum but i dont feel like i have a good sense of direction in regards to a skimmer, can anyone give more detailed info or more pros and cons on some of the specific skimmers? Please

cpr sr3
Tunze 9002
Aqua C
sapphire
Prices roughly for the top 3 are in the 150.00 - 160.00 range
the sapphire is about 110.00

does the 30% difference in price really give you what you are paying for? or are you getting what you pay for with sapphire compared to the others(it's performance is not up to par with the others, or is it a good deal in comparrison)?

Thanks in advance (hope you dont mind my post, my questions and how long it is)

Emilio

P.S. i have a Aquapod 24

why does the water volume of the tank make a difference in the micro bubbles being produced in the display?

why would it produce micro bubbles in a 14g VS 28g or 29gal nano?

the reason for my question is, for example an ASM G4 skimmer if used on a 210g and it does not produce micro bubbles it wont produce them in a 75g (of course it would be overkill for that small of a tank but thats not my point)

i love learning new stuff, i would never thought going from a large tank system to nano could change what i thought i knew! i just thought "all i have to do is think smaller" Yeah RIGHT!!!

i must be missing something?

Emilio

I had one. It was worthless. A lot of extra plastic pieces that aren't needed.

On the video you will see a small tube on out flow above the water. This is supposed to release air bubbles so they dont go in you water. IT DOES NOT DO THE JOB! It is to small. All of my air goes up that "T" PVC peice so there are NO bubbles in my tank.
