Questions regarding Filtra M/Purist line...
I've been using the Elos Purist line for just over three weeks now and like the results I'm getting so far. I do have a question about the filtra m though. Currently I'm using this in my tlf 150 reactor with Elos carbon. When should I replace the filtra m? I had it in the reactor for about 2.5 weeks along with the carbon but decided to change it. Once I changed it, it seemed like my water clarity wasn't as good as before. ( I rinsed the filtra m in warm/hot water) I'm wondering if your not supposed to change the filtra m because this is where the bacteria accumulate. How often should I change it, if at all? I do not have a sump, so this is why I'm using the reactor. Should I run the filtra m in a bag where there is a good amount of flow instead of the reactor? I'm also dosing the elos aa's and pro skimmer along w/ the purist line. Is there a recommended time or way to dose each component? I dose what is reccomended based on my tank size every day one after another. Should I be spacing the time I dose each component or just dose all at once?
Any feed back is greatly appreciated! Thank You, Jayson

with ZEOvit you replace the rocks every 4-6 weeks and keep 10% of the old rocks in there so you dont lose the whole bacterial colony. should apply here as well.

Awesome that's what I was thinking! I might need to use two reactors because I change carbon every 2-3 weeks. Thanks for the help!
Bump for remaining questions I have...

I too have been using the Filtra M for about two months now. I also use the RB10 and RB20 with the Filtra M to colonize and keep the bacteria nourished. You should change the Filtra M about every six weeks and change it completely from what I have been instructed. Build up slowly when adding the Filtra M as well as it can strip the water of PO4 and NO3 too quickly, similar to the zeo line. I use mine in a bag in a high flow area of my sump after the skimmer, and it has done an excellent job of removal of nutrients.
I also use the Omega/ Pro Skimmer combination and it has produced amazing results for me thus far. I have very vibrant colors in most all of my corals. It actually brought back the "rainbow" effects of a Lobo colony that had went plain on me. The Lobo had been very plain red/ purplish for about a year and half, after dosing for a few weeks you could see the return of the green/ yellow rainbow. Now after a couple of months, it is very vibrant. I was told to dose both of these to the display, after the lights have gone out for the night recently. Before I was dosing to the sump in the late morning. I can't tell any difference as too what time of day I dosed though. HTH

dailydriven911 - I mentioned the transofrmation of a certain coral above. I just updated a thread where I had mentioned it before to show the effects of the Omega/ Skimmer combo. Take a look at the thread posted below for the pictures.

Just to clarify one thing Filtra M does not remove PO4 but it does remove ammonia and if you remove ammonia than you will lower your NO2 and NO3 levels. This especially works well for those with cheap skimmers or poor filtration overall.
