Chalice Trouble - Advice?
I got this chalice I'm a little worried about. It was fresh cut from the LFS.
There is a part near the cut where the skeleton is slightly showing and earlier it had been sliming a little green color. But the over body looks good... except for a little part of the side. This is my first chalice so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also posted this in the LPS forum. Heres two pictures I just snapped. Sorry kind of crummy...but as you can see the side is slightly baring it's skeleton but the rest of the body looks good. Problem is I can't watch it as I have to leave out of town unexpectantly. My parameters are good and it's currently sitting on the sand bed with low flow. Oh the bottom picture left corner is where the skeleton is showing and it's perpendicular is the area that was cut. should I be worried? ![]() ![]() edit* should I turn off my lights or anything? No chalice expert here, but of the few I've tried, this happened to at least one piece. I moved it to a lower light area and it eventually bounced back and even grew back over the exposed skeleton. HTH

Looks okay to me. Chalices tend to slime up when cut or touched from my tank. It should heal over the cut over time.

It's a crap shoot IMO any time you take a fresh cut lps. Of course the odds are in your favor if your chemistry is up to snuff, but infection can happen so easily. Not trying to scare you at all, but just want to let you know you have reason for concern untill you can see the wound has healed it begins to fluff up. For me trying the odds are like 1 in 5(total approximation just to give you an idea) can go south, even then sometimes it's just a good recession untill it acclimates. Chances are good though that I just wasted a lot of keystrokes

Pretty typical for the skeleton to show on a fresh cut. I would move it up a little away from the sand. Any sand particles that get on it will just cause stress. If possible give it a good iodine dip as well and if it shows any feeders then feed that bad boy! Truely one of my favorite corals!!
