Lion question?
My wife really wants a lion fish. Are they reef safe? I have a 70g. What type of lion would be good if any? fish consist of foxface, clown, damsel, scooter blennie, and flame hawk. Thanks!

one potential disaster is that the lion will eat the skooter blennie. i was thinking the same thing about putting one in my reef, but would only go for the dwarf lion fish. im thinking against it though, too much waste

Maybe Rogger will chime in on this, since he had one in his 375 for a while. They do eat and eat and eat, only large meals, which means large volumes of waste as well. Maybe you could try a dwarf one. They stay pretty small, but still eat a good amount. |

I had a dwarf for my 125gal before I took it down. He was about 4" long. He didn't bother any of the smaller fishes...all about 2" long. I fed him every 3 days and he would only eat 2-3 silver sides that is about 2" long each feeding.

bad idea..... i have a 9 inch lion right now. unless you get a dwarf speices i would not do it again. he either ate or stung my other fish to death.... but a dwarf will be fine. my dwarf left even my small damsel alone which he could have prolly ate.

just take a look to what the lion fish are doing to our local reefs and in the bahamas....i would say no especially given the size of the tank.....but i understand the wife thing so my suggestion is just set her up a nice 55 with a couple of predators and you're set.
