Strange question

Do macroalgae/ hair algae consume in any quantity bicarbonate. As in alkalinity?

I am trying to figure out if a massive die off of hair algae due to bacteria would have raised my alkalinity to nearly 32dkh! I had a lot of hair algae all along the walls of the tank, inside the skimmer ect. Then it all died off, turned brown after dosing sugar for a while.

Do they store alkalinity?

Thanks for any help

Its a good idea to have a refrence sample for alk test kits. 1.1350 grams of baking soda in 1gallon of distilled water=10dkh. Check your alkalinity test kit!

The only real gaurantee of attraction is abundance. CWK
