green slmmer?

well i finally changed my light bulbs, i had 2- 250 watt 10kse corallife bulbs about 13months old. well i switched to the xm 10k bulbs. with in 1 1/2 days my green slimmer started to die and in 2 days it was completely dead! all my levels are good. could it be that the new lights stressed out my coral?
thanks

The newer bulbs will put out way more light than the older bulbs. I think it was the intensity that caused your problem. Trying putting some screen over the tank for the next few days to acclimate the corals again.

you absolutely nuked your corals. Sorry bud.

I've got 3 month old 10k Reeflux on my tank right now in luminarc minis. I tried some of my old 6 month or even 1 year old XMs in the same setup for a few days, and my corals started bleaching. You've got to VERY carefully and SLOWLY acclimate to XM 10ks. They're usually twice or more the intensity of most other bulbs. I love the colors that come out of them too, but I'm going to try radiums to see if I can get that "faux flourescent" look going.

I even had a bit of bleaching on my green slimer switching from 3 x 175 watt hamilton 14k to 2 x 250 watt radiums in luminarc minis, and I used window screen 2 layers for 3 days and 1 layer for 3 days. Killed the most exposed part but the rest is ok. I am waiting to see if it re-colonizes the dead part. That is the only coral that couldn't handle the change.
