local stores

does anyone know if any of them will be open tomorrow? have to take my grandsone to St. John's for a follow up and thought I might be able to get a couple more fish and maybe a anemone if anything is open.
Any suggestions on fish? I have two false perculas so far. I want something showy. I like the pajama cardinals but I've heard they hide?

Beldt's, Clayton, Marine Solutions and Planet Reef should be open, but I would call first.

I recomend Marine Solutions...
I can't begin to tell ya how helpfull they have been to me..
I'm a total noob, and Dwayne, Paul, and..well, pretty much every employee they have working there, have always taken the time to help me, and answer all of my questions...no matter how noobish they were..lol
I've never once been sold something I didn't need, or sold anything I should'nt own, just for the sake of a sale...
So heres my shameless plug..lol

Gateway is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

You just have to be at the right store at the right time for selection. I like buying fish from Clayton because of the warranty.

Other than that I buy what I like when I see it !
Just watch out for disease or funny looking spots or messed up fins.

I buy my Fish from MS or CP. I've never had an issue with the fish from either of those LFS. I've only bought 1 fish from Belts, I still have it too, My Golden Stripped Maroon Clown, but I've not bought anymore there, so I can't really comment on the quality. Tropical world is just to far of a drive for me anymore

However you have to keep in mind that it is really your job as the hobbyist to look really closely to a fish and check it out thoroughly before buying it. Impulse buying is the worst thing to do. Just last week @ MS my son wanted what we thought might be a Mexican Rock Wrasse, it was awesome looking and very healthy. But after asking Dwayne what it was for sure, he informed us it was not, & it was not a Reef Safe fish. Ended that sale. But honesty like that keeps me returning to that store.

It's up to you really, most of the LFS have nice fish & fair amounts of different one's to choose from, but it all comes down to you being responsible and making the right choices.

Any fish can be "showy" like the yellow Zebrasoma ( Yellow Tang) Or the Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis ( Black Surgeonfish or commonly known as the Chevron Tang). Tangs like to swim a lot, they are always swimming from one side to the other of the tank.

Stu.
