Smile I Won A 24 Gallon Aquapod

Ok check this out. I went to That Fish Place a couple weeks ago and picked up some salt and sand for my 90 gal build. While I was there I entered the AquaPod Tank, Stand and Light give away. (SunPod HQI Metal Halide Aquarium Lighting Fixture - a $500.00 total value). Well, I was the winner. I'm not sure what to do with it. I just picked this up tonight. Any info on a skimmer would help also.

that's awesome! i used to live in pittsburgh until we moved to Nashville. do you ever go to the seahorse on route 8? I used to work there (about 10 years ago) and stop in every once in a while, but haven't gotten a chance in a year or so.

Since you are not sure what to do with it, you can always give it to me. I would be more than happy to take it off of your hands. You don't want something that is going to hide that great piece of artwork to the right of it.

Congrats on the tank. Post pictures once it is up and running.

really happy to see what that looks like with the light on. Just ordered one w/ hqi sunpod for $299. probably going to get a remora skimmer for it eventually. Is that light good enough to keep SPS and maybe a clam?

I use a sapphire skimmer in my ap24 but it has a lid, the tunze doc is good in them and if you like the remora get ta uss skimjet they work the same and are about half price.

I would imagine it is good enough for a clam. I have read reviews that say that with the white l.e.d's on it is almost overkill.

I have seen a couple of posts in the past that have had clams in them with the sunpod, not sure what type or if they use the white leds or not but the pics looked great.

Do they lose a lot of water with evaporation?

the open top will lose a bit due to being open and also having a lot of light heat above it. the closed tops lose a little but it takes a bit due to being closed.

do yourself a favor before filling with water and Silicone around the inside of the upper trim, they're are notorious for leaking around the corners if you run the water level high. Also, swap out the stock pump for a maxijet 900, it'll be much quieter. Don't go for a maxijet 1200 as they run hot.

Ok here I go... It's set up time first picture. I still need a skimmer. If anyone has pictures of their skimmer mounted on their tank please post a picture. I want to see how much room is need and they are mounted.

I used one bag of new live sand and LR from my 58 gal that I'm breaking down. Picture was taken after about 2 hours.

Lookin good so far. I would love to see a pic with the blue and white l.e.d's on with the water and rock and everything in it. How is the setup? I dont have mine yet and i am curious as to how everything works in the back. Is there enough room for a fuge in the back?

I'll try to get pictures ASAP. I'm trying to put as much as I can in the tank from my 58 gal. This is my first nano tank so to me everything about is small. I guess you could put a fuge behind it some how. I'll try to get pictures with just the L E D's.
