Effluent PH/Sediment tube position
I have been running the number 2 size unit for about 6 months Works okut can not get calcium level of effluent over 400. Effuent PH stuck at 6.5. Water flow 8.5 ltr per hour. Controller on and off every 5 minutes or so. Have a Hagen Optima air pump cranked all the way open. Also, noticed pictures online show inlet to sediment tube pointed straight down. Is this the correct position? Aquacare website shows inlet fitting to sediment tube positioned 45 degrees up from straight down postion. Do I need a larger air pump? Thanks.

Hello,
sediment fitting: please check if the inlet fitting of the sediment tube is 90° from straight down position. pH of output water: 1. the pump is too small. 2. the air stone inside of the neutralization tube is defect the pH should be about 7 to 7.3 3. the pH meter is not calibrated or defect Calcium / alkalinity: please check if the reactor will stop every 2 hours (CO2 off, and internal circulation pump off, water inlet on). Check your calcium test (better use alkalinity; this test is more stabel) Do you use Turbo granules (if you use others the capacity is much lower)? Best regards Burkhard |

AquaCare model 2
Thanks. I will vote for bad PH monitor. I have a very large airpump (hagen optima) and plenty of bubbles in the sediment tube so pump and stone seem to be working? I will make sure my timers are working.

Hi Pryan002,
I have not found exact data about this pump. But you need for Turbo 2 a pump with 300 liters / h at 1 meter water pressure (80 gal/h at 1.5 psi). The Hagen optima seems to be at its limit. It is better to take a larger pump and to throttle it if necessary. A throttled pump is not so loud, too. Best regards, Burkhard |

Burkhard, of the air pumps we have on our website, which models would suit each AquaCare model? We also have air pumps located at 247gardensupply.com. We will add them to each AquaCare product listing for easy reference.
Here are the links to make it easy on you... http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/cat...?cPath=139_267 http://www.247gardensupply.com/catal...th=406_139_267 Thank you,

Looks like 80 gph at 1 psi converts to a pump that delivers .2 CFM at 1 psi. The hagen optima is not strong enough. Very hard to find an adjustable air pump for this application. A whitewater v201 might work. If too strong can bleed off some air?

Hi Scott,
it is not easy to find data about air pumps. The information "watt" says nearly nothing about the power. The dolphin 3 star is suitable for Turbo 1, the dolphin 5 start is suitable for Turbo 2-4 maybe 5, too. I am sure that there are other suitable air pumps on the US market, but most of them are unkown in Europe or they are distributed with other names. If you have data (air flow and pressure) I will help to decide if the pump is o.k. for the Turbo calcium reactors Best regards, Burkhard |

Thanks for the info Burkhard. We will provide you with more data on our air pumps this coming week.

Hey Scott, any info on the pumps? Maybe just a list of the air pumps others have used?
Thanks |
