hello
just introducing myself, been pokin around the site for a while, and I liked what I saw, and became a member a little while ago.
located in south jersey, I have been a part of aquaculturing and reefkeeping for some time now (like 5-6 yrs or so), worked in a couple of pet stores (petco being one with Phish guy for a while), and are presently enrolled in Gloucester County College as a sophmore in the Marine Science field. a litte about my past tanks: a 55 FOWLR tank with 2 emperor 400's with a Kent carbon/nitrate sponge mix, 2" sand bed, about 100 lbs of live rock (bali mainly, and then some), and a JBJ 48" PC 260w (???) striplight an attmepted (sorta lost interest, that and the fish left ...) Eclipse 3 nano w/ the light and hatch removed, a Zoo Med clamp lamp w/ a 9w 50/50 and a red sea filter with some of the rock from my 55, and a firefish. ...and the transfer of my 55 to a 90 that didnt go over so well. the room placement ( i was renovating at the time) where the new tank was going- yeah, totally forgot about the heavy cast iron tub on the other side of the wall in the bathroom. While filling up the halfway and my floor started to creek. mission aborted. fast foward like almost 3 yrs. and me and Phish guy have designed my current tank. 10 gal. nano with a 2 gal refugium crushed coral (like 10 lbs.) bottom maybe 15 lbs of rock Aquaclear 50 filter with 2 mesh bags of HydroCarbon (all of which came from my restarted esclispe 3 nano) then i bought a 10 gal. and a Current 24 hr. 80w PC w/ dual daylight (6700K/10000K @ 40w) dual actinic (420nm/460nm @ 40w) and a 3w moon Koralia Nano powerhead zoo med 35-70 gph powerhead The 2 gal. goldfish bowface tank is side-mounted: we raised the base up over the side edge of tank, attached an aquaclear 10 powerhead to a length of hose as an out, and drilled it with a 1" bulkhead, siliconed it, and elbowed it back out into the tank. followed by some donated carib-sea refugium sand, a rock, a 13w lamp and BAM! a frankenstein mini-reef. livestock includes: yellow clown goby misbarred clown some snails and hermit crabs(blueleg) orange ricrodia green torch green striped mushroom kenya tree frag few random zoa/play frags aqua hammer squmosa clam green zoa colony pics coming soon. |

nice looking tank alex. looks like you have plenty of space for new livestock too.
you should paint the back of the tank black or "ocean blue". looks messy cause you can see through the back |
