I caught my RBTA splitting - Got Pics!
I posted this in my Local Forum Area here on RC but figured that I would post it here as well for all to enjoy.
I'll try to make a long story short: One of my RBTA's split about a week and a half ago. I planned on selling both of the new ones. I gave them about a week to heal before I attempted to remove them from the tank. Yesterday I pulled the rock out that both of them were attached to and tickled them off the rock. One was immediately picked up by a buyer and the other one was put into an acrylic box with some flow going into it while I made arrangements for it to be picked up. It was only going to be in the box for a day or two. Well, several hours ago I walked in to check on it and it was almost completely split AGAIN. I grabbed the camera and got a couple of shots of it figuring that you don't get to see this too often. I wish I would have walked in on it sooner so I could have gotten pics of the whole deal but this is what I got. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

my GBTA's did the same thing..split and one of them seems to be splitting again. The pics above look like mine did, only both of my GBTAs split at the same time.

I don't believe anyone knows why these things split. There are numerous theories out there.
I'm starting to lean towards stress as one of the triggers.
