Worrying, worrying worrying D:

I just began the process of preserving my recent peacock mantis, and was STUPID enough to do it in my living room, where my two mantis shrimp live.

Guess what I was using?

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL.

A volatile organic solvent.

I was pouring it into a jar like 1 meter away from my stomatopods...

I opened all the windows and turned on the fan when I realised.

Now I'm scared that my remaining two (or three, depending on if the clicking sound from my live rock really is coming from another mantis) are going to die...

Someone convince me that pouring a few hundred ml of VOC from one container to another for about a minute won't affect my stomatopods...

This is terrible...

I highly doubt that, if I don't have problems with a wife who sprays air freshener near my reef, your going to have issues with isopropyl alcohol fumes near your mantis.
For your peace of mind run some fresh carbon and do a nice water change.

good move turning on the fan and opening the windows. i think that is the best thing you could have done, and it sure sounds like you jumped on it fast. i think it'll be ok.

Isopropyl won't cause a problem. I wouldn't use in IN the tank, but it wouldn't be as bad as something like paint thinner or acetone.

Phew...they are both doing fine now.

I wonder...does this mean I cannot dose vodka in my tanks?
