maxijet 1200 for return?
Wondering how maxijet 1200's work for return pumps. I have a 44 inch head, and I put a maxijet on it today as a temporary solution and now I'm wondering if it would work long term. What are your experiences with longevity and functionality of maxijet 1200's as a return?

I've been using a Maxijet 1200 as a return on a ten over ten for about 5 years with good results. The first one lasted about 4 years before it started making noise. Even though it continued to work the clicking was driving me crazy.
I have avout 3' of head, three elbows and a hydor on the output so that does reduce the flow. For my LPS nano that's about right for part of the flow. I supplement the flow with a 300GPH Aquaclear though. The issue I've run into are that crud buildup in the tubing/intake really reduces flow. It's higher maintenence than just getting a more powerful pump. You can see the Maxijet on the bottom left side of this pic...
