Fish choice for a 29G... what's compatible? what's a little rare? where to said fish?
Hello all,
My tank, started in may of 2008, is maturing nicely now. I got rid of a Hairy rock over the weekend that I believed to be the root of my Hair Algae problem, no pun intended. now with the tank rearranged my two little fishies are feeling like they need a new friend, or at least I feel that they do. I keep a mixed reef with a GBTA and a Crocea clam. I keep zoas, rics, SPS, and minimal LPS corals as well. I currently have a smallish tomato clown, and a six-line wrasse. I would like a fish who is an algae eater, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a funtion of the new fish. I would like something a little on the rare side, but nothing too crazy under $100 for sure, but I would definitely prefer under $50. I know this narrows my options a lot, but just give me some ideas, a pic would be nice if you don't mind. I will be back on in a bit to post a pic or two. Gotta go walk the dogs now. Thanks in advance for your help

I've been putting lots of eyeballs on a flame hawk. I may put one in my frag tank, they're so doggone cool!! Flame hawks run around $50 in my area.

I wish I could add more clowns, but I think one may be the limit in a nano.

I would say youre at your limit with a tomato in a nano... it will probably get mean as it gets large...

Tomato clowns are very mean and territorial. IMO, I would take him out before you cant put anything else in because of him.. Just a thought... GL

Did not notice you had a tomato clown, I would trade him in if you aren't attached and get yourself a pair of ocellaris or perculas. Here is a picture of my ocellaris in their 29 gallon.

so its a concensus that the tomato will kill or at least harrass any new addition?

Yup afraid so.
However, to answer your question, I would suggest a flameback pygmy angel. One of the most beautiful fishes I ever bought. Loved him until one day I found that he carpet surfed. L8R Aaron
