Whats the going rate for
A new 120 ( 4x2x2) un drilled, tank?( I hate how they drill them, thier overflows look bad)
I going to sell the house I've been remodeling so there is no need to do a custom in wall tank.

An Oceanic Tech 120 goes for about $850.00.
What brand is yours? |

I searched google shopping and found an oak trim non RR tank for $530. I'm looking to buy one too, but I think I might save a few bucks and just get the 90gal 48x18x24

Justin,
If you can swing it, I would save up for the 120 gallon. The extra 6" in depth makes a HUGE difference. Minh |

Call aqualife in rocklin. They advertise on their webpage below whosale pricing on ordered tanks from AGA. Not affiliated in any way.

I'll second that. Most "reef ready" tanks put the overflows in prime tank releaste. which is why I hate them. I'd much rather have 2 very small corner overflows. The one thing I've learned about keeping reefs, its better to have your flow come from a closed loop system then from the sump return. Still debating between discus/planted and a reef. With the way the econ is right now, I'm not sure if I can aford a reef, in the future. http://www.fishtankshop.com/index.as...D&ProdID=37140 hmmm rimless...hmmm... edit... never mind, read thier warranty, Any manufactor that won't back thier tank against presure and stress cracks is not one I will buy from. so basicly, if basicly just covers the silcone leaking... No thank you.

you looking for new or used? Used, I'd expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $400. (If I move into a bigger tank, I will be selling my 120 and stand for around $400.)
120 is an awesome size and always in high demand because of their great dimensions. I highly recommend it and whenever you decide to sell it, you shouldn't have any problem at all.

As long as its not been "hacked on" I would not have a prob with used. I was in O street this morning ( I was the guy in whites)and they have a RR 120 perfecto and stand for 6 and change. I've not bought a "off the shelf" tank( other then the odd 10-20 gallon) in atleast a decade.
a 140 at 48x24x29 is also in the running, but I'd rather have more width rather then hieght. I would prefer some type of "euro brase" rather then a center support.

The extra 5" in height in the 140G is a pain. I'd rather have a 48x24x24 than a 48x24x29.

I'd love to find a 48x32-36 x 24, but they look funny when they are not in wall. They just stick out too much.

Does the perfecto 120 have the same RR setup as the AGA? with 2 big overflows on the back wall?
Like TAB, I'm considering a non-RR to build my own overflows in the corners to keep the center of the tank as wide open as possible.

I believe that the Perfecto tank have corner overflows that are 1/4 circles in shape. I don't like the AGA megaflow because it takes up premium space. I like the Oceanic Tech tank overflow.
BTW - the Perfecto tank's over flow looks like the following: (Note those are not actual pictures of the Perfecto tanks) ![]() BTW - if you're purchasing a tank of that size, chances are the bottom is tampered. You will NOT be able to drill the bottom. Keep that in mind if you are going to build your own overflow on a large tank. |

nope 2 big on the back.
I would be ok with the 2 ( or even just one) in the corners.

Sorry to theadjack but has anyone ever heard of a 48x24x20? I want to run T5's so I don't want a very deep tank. I've been looking around but haven't seen one. The only option I've come up with is a custom tank but I can't afford that.

I spent last weekend looking around at different LFS for 90's and 120's. Here's what I've seen...
Non RR AGA 120 = $299 RR AGA 120 = $399 Oceanic Tech 120 is $650 - 850 depending upon your store. Eros: I have not seen a 48x24x20 in the stores, I suspect custom is the way to go. But T5's should still be able to provide good PAR on a 24" tank given proper amount of bulbs, quality bulb choice, quality individual reflectors and mounting heigth from water. However, I've seen some really nice larger tanks recently using halides, and I'm caught like a deer in headlights while looking at the shimmer!

I have to strongly second Aqualife here. I'm not sure if I can post prices, but I spent less than $200 for a non-drilled 90 AGA to replace the one I cracked in a move last weekend. I'm going to drill it myself, since I hate their overflows too. Give them a call, their sale prices are PHENOMENAL!
