Reef lighting Question

I have a question about lighting. I have a few friends that use Metal Halide bulbs from ebay. They have been using these bulbs for over a year. Their tanks look amazing with great growth.

Is anyone else using the cheaper bulbs from ebay? Has anyone had any problems. I would like to hear if there is any good or bad about these bulbs.

Brian

There's a few threads on here on them. Some variability in performance, QC isn't always up to snuff, some are good, others are not. You get what you pay for, I guess.

If your friends are using them and they are having good results then why not try them. Obviously they are $70 to $80 apiece..... Anytime you ask a question about cheaper products you will usually get a lot of comments to stay away. More expensive doesn't always mean you get what you pay for. If that was the case there wouldn't be as many lawyers as there are...
