i use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer or a razorblade. they all seem to work just fine.

Zoas are indestructable. Smash the rock apart, use a chisel to dig under the polyp (get some rock with it) then use Superglue to glue the rock dust on the foot to another rock. I have had slight success gluing the polyp directly, but they will sometimes detach and float away.
