The reason I'm asking is Keith built me a new tank that I'm working on setting up, and I've never ran a refugium before. I'd rather not include one in the setup for the same reason you stated above, but I have my concerns for nutrient buildup. It's helpful to know what other successful SPS systems are doing.

My biggest export of nutrients are my water changes. I do run media reators for both carbon and ferric oxide, but a good skimmer and weekly water changes have always provided decent results. I had Keith build my sump as well. Let me know if you want to come by and check out the tank next weekend.

Mark is your sump sectioned off for a fuge? If so what did you end using it for? How about some shots of what's under the hood?

Who is Keith? Does he ship his sumps? Some contact info please or at least his RC name?

I do not think Keith (gotfin) ships sumps. I also do not thin khe can get PM's on RC anymore.

Thanks Mark, so fuge is on one side did you just turn the supply valve off to that side?

Nope, that is the side that goes through my UV when I decide to use it. I do have it turned down though.

It was a week or so ago and since it was at the end of the day, only the center two halides are one. I promise I will get better

Cool video Mark, I like the spaces between the different islands that you have. It comes through a bit better with the video vs. just pics. Your tank is so filled in it's hard to see that there's some separation there, lol! But that's a good thing, right...

Are you at work? Can you usually see you tube at work? Some companies have certain sites restricted, but you would know better than me.

Thanks Dave. The islands and caves are something I wanted for the fish. Thinks have turned out pretty good so far, now I just need to upgrade so I can let me corals grow out

If I ever upgrade, it would either be in the garage or in a different house after taking a break.
