To Reef Central The most reliable HOB overflow out there is the Lifereef. They are designed and made extremely well, dont require any external vacuum pump or powerhead to maintain siphon. They have an excellent reputation from the positive experiences from the uses of the product. I'd get the 1200 GPH model for a 180G. www.lifereef.com/siphon.html

Would the 600 gph model be the right choice for a 75g tank?

Maybe considered the best - but I consider them overpriced. I've used eshopps for almost 4 years now without one single problem or failure. They are about 1/3rd the cost of a LifeReef.
Not bashing LifeReef - I have no doubts they are very well built. But like all of Jeff's products - they are overpriced.
