changing my aquascape with Marco Rocks
Does this sound like this can be done without killing any SPS colonies. I have a 120 Gallon tank with about 6 to 8 inches of sandbed with a 100 gallon rubbermade sump piped through the wall to my fish room in the garage. I want to change the rock in the tank but want to keep the SPS corals and I also want to go to a bare bottom tank. I also want the aquascape to be more open and the rock to be binded together so there is no more rock moving around. I currently have about 150 pounds of rock piled up from front to back and have very little room for any new coral additions because of the lousy aquascape. I bought 150 pounds of dry Largo rock from Marco rocks and used a drill and fiberglass rods to erect the aquascape I wanted on a PVC base so no rock in on the bottom of the tank. I will soak the new rock for a week or so in saltwater. I was thinking I will take out the rocks in my main display tank that have the coral colonies on them now and put them in my sump. I will then drain and clean my main display tank and remove the sandbed. I will then install my new rock aquascape and refill the tank with new saltwater and bring up to normal temperature. I then think I can valve the sump back into operation with the main tank and add the coral colinies from the sump back to the display tank to seed the new rock.
