What type of substrate to use

What substrate do people use for reef tanks. Has anyone gone glass bottom and liked it?

There are quite a few people that run a bare bottom, I'm sure it has it's advantages and disadvantages. Personally I use an aragonite sand in 40lb bags and I mixed in 10 lbs of instant cycling sand I cab remember the name of it for sure but I want to say caribsea on the aragonite and natures own on the instant. I've got a total of 90lbs in my 75 Which is roughly 3" deep
